Gray Mosaic Backsplash Kitchen Remodel

The homeowners wanted a kitchen remodel that would update the heavy wood cabinetry and dark countertops that made their Central Florida kitchen feel dated and closed in. Their goal was a lighter, more welcoming space with improved seating and a cohesive palette that worked better for everyday routines and casual entertaining. We focused on modernizing finishes while keeping the existing layout efficient and familiar.

What we did

As part of this kitchen remodel, we refinished the original cabinets in a soft white tone to reflect more natural light throughout the room. We replaced the dark countertops with light quartz surfaces and extended the peninsula to create a larger seating area with decorative panel detailing. A gray mosaic tile backsplash introduced texture and movement behind the range wall while tying together the stainless-steel appliances and updated cabinet hardware. We also added three contemporary pendant lights above the peninsula and installed a new streamlined faucet at the sink. Marilou Stones guided these selections to ensure the materials felt balanced and appropriate for long-term use in Central Florida homes.

The result

The completed kitchen remodel feels brighter, more open, and more functional for gathering around the peninsula. The white cabinetry and quartz countertops create a calm backdrop, while the mosaic tile backsplash adds visual interest without overwhelming the space. The result is a comfortable, updated kitchen that supports both daily living and entertaining, reflecting the thoughtful design approach Marilou Stones brings to every Stones Design project.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it possible to modernize my kitchen without changing the layout?

Yes. In this kitchen remodel, we kept the original layout but updated cabinetry finishes, countertops, lighting, and backsplash materials. These targeted improvements created a noticeably brighter and more functional space without moving appliances or plumbing locations.

A mosaic tile backsplash adds texture and visual depth while remaining easy to maintain. In this project, the gray mosaic tile helped connect the stainless-steel appliances with the new white cabinetry and quartz countertops for a cohesive, contemporary look.

Most kitchen remodel projects in Central Florida take about 6–10 weeks after final design approval, depending on countertop fabrication, cabinet refinishing, and lighting installation. We coordinate trades and scheduling, so homeowners experience a smooth, organized process from start to finish.

Yes. Quartz countertops are durable, low maintenance, and resistant to staining, making them ideal for everyday cooking and entertaining. In this remodel, the light quartz surface also helped brighten the peninsula seating area and improve the overall feel of the space.

Absolutely. Expanding the peninsula created additional seating and workspace without changing the footprint of the room. In this project, the updated peninsula became a central gathering point while supporting better circulation and usability throughout the kitchen remodel.
